Simple, fun and surprisingly entertaining. This is probably how a player can describe the School of Chaos game. The game is classified as an MMORPG but unlike the typical game, School of Chaos is simply beyond usual. It is not the type of RPG that takes you to a magical journey. Generally, this game is not about dungeon exploring, guild wars or any epic adventure. School of Chaos is a multiplayer game where you take control of a student as you fight against other kids at school. Apparently, teachers mysteriously disappeared and so the kids went on a riot and resulted in chaos. If you think you can survive this chaotic school, feel free to explore this game and see how far you can go.

The Gameplay

The mechanics for this game are generally simple and easily manageable. As soon as the game starts, it will first ask you to select your preferred character. The game has few options to choose from but you can eventually customize your character by applying items that you can either loot or buy through the in-game shop. Once done, it will prompt you right away to the virtual school. The journey will begin in the school’s rest area. The game controls are simple yet not as responsive as they should be. You can navigate around the 3D map using the virtual joypad and interact with your environment using the tap-based buttons on the bottom right of the screen.

There are two main buttons you can use which are marked with B and A respectively. The “B” button allows you to pick up items and interact with NPCs and other players while the “A” button allows you to attack nearby players. Located on the upper left are icons that give you access to your Inventory, Map, and Alerts. Although the game still offers quests that allow you to earn rewards, the School of Chaos will allow you to do almost anything. It doesn’t come up with an AutoRun or Auto Combat system so you have to manually locate and move around the area.

Accept Quests Or Make Your Own

Like any other MMORPG, the School of Chaos also involves quest but not really relying much on it. In the first place, the game doesn’t have any compelling story to tell which could be a downside for most RPG lovers. As what the title of the game suggests, it is indeed a school of chaos where students pit against other students and that is all about it. If you see NPCs that are waving their hands, it means that they have a quest available for your character to take. Most of the quests will ask players to navigate around the school, perform certain tasks, collect various items, and many more.

Interestingly, the game also allows you to create your own quest for other players to complete. When creating your own quest, you can set the number of enemies, set your preferred location, input the quest texts, and many more. This particular feature is what sets the School of Chaos apart from other MMORPGs. To start creating your own quests, you must find the Business Boy and buy a “Quest Maker” from him. Just be mindful that all quests will be subject to approval by the developers. Make sure that they will be helpful to other players, otherwise, it will be reported as junk.

Explore 3D Map, Engage on Endless Brawl

Appearance-wise, the School of Chaos may not offer an amazing visual treat. The graphics are not well-polished and it feels like playing those indie games from Ludum Dare challenges. In fact, VNL Entertainment is actually using the same Unity platform for all their games on the market including the City of Chaos, Bad Nerd, Ninja Rage, Nerd Vs Zombies, and more. Despite the simplicity of its graphics, the game still offers a huge 3D map to explore and almost all items are something you can interact with. In case you got lost, you can always access the map which tells your current location. It also features icons to identify your current quest.

The game will not be called the School of Chaos for no reason. Combat plays a huge part in this MMORPG. You can attack everyone in the school and engage yourself on a brawl at any given time. Just move the character near an enemy and hit the Attack button. You can also equip the character with weapons or buy additional attack moves to make you more efficient. The Rest Area is the only safe zone in the school and once you move out, you have to fight for your own survival and that makes the game a lot more thrilling.

The Verdict

School of Chaos is just a new game but it is constantly and regularly evolving. The developers are giving their efforts to make the game more engaging and more visually appealing. Honestly, the game has so much potential and I just can’t wait to see more of its future developments. The Quest Making system is incredibly unique which makes this game a standout despite missing any compelling storyline. There’s also a newly-added Property System in the game where players can buy and customize their own house.
