Install and Play Fortnite on Mobile/PC/Mac

Two years ago, the beta version of Fortnite made its way to Android platforms but only for selected Samsung mobile devices. A few days after, Epic began sending invites for the Android version to registered users for non-Samsung devices and it took two months before it became available to all (even without the invites). However, it was quite a tricky process for Android users to download Fortnite on their devices. Users had to sideload an installer app from APK file provided by Epic through their official webpage. The reason why Epic Games made Fortnite Battle Royale semi-exclusive is to iron out any potential issues before its full release. Also, they had some issues with the Google Play Store’s revenue-sharing requirement.

Finally, after two years of waiting, Android users can now download Fortnite on their devices without going through tricky sideloading processes. Fortnite is now officially available via Google Play Store. You can now download this epic game in just a few steps and allow us to guide you through.

The process is very simple and it works the same way on how you normally download apps via Google Play Store.

  1. Access the Google Play Store App on your Phone.
  2. Search “Fortnite” from the search bar and tap the one officially distributed by Epic Games Inc.
  3. Tap the Install button and viola! You already have the game and you are ready to go!

Just be mindful that Fortnite is a very large game that requires a huge space from your mobile. So make sure to clear up your storage for full Fortnite gaming experience. The current version requires Android 7.1 and above with a download size of more than 7GB. Fortnite is a high-fidelity game that is compatible with devices running 64-bit Android on an ARM64 processor, Android OS 8.0 or higher, minimum 4GB of RAM, and GPU: Adreno 530 or higher, Mali-G71 MP20, Mali-G72 MP12 or higher.

It is also interesting to note that Fortnite is one of the mobile games that can smoothly run in 60FPS (frame per second) but only those high-end Android phones can pull it off. Some of the devices that can run 60 FPS include Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (USA variant only) Samsung Galaxy S10, S10e, S10+, Samsung Galaxy Note 10, Note 10+, Note 10+ 5G, Samsung Galaxy A90 5G, Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, HONOR View20, Huawei Mate 20 X, Huawei P30 / P30 Pro, Sony Xperia 1, Xiaomi Mi9, OnePlus 7 Pro, ASUS ROG Phone II.

iOS device owners are the first ones to experience the mobile beta version of Fortnite Battle Royale. The beta version was initially released in March 2018 but only through limited invites until it became available to all iOS phone users the following month. Unlike the tricky process of the Android version, the Fortnite Battle Royale on iOS can be downloaded directly on Apple App Store. To download the game on your device, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Access the App Store from your device.
  2. Search “Fortnite” on the search bar and tap the one officially distributed by Epic Games
  3. Tap “Get” to start downloading. You might also be asked to enter the password of your Apple ID account.
  4. Once the download is complete, tap the Open button and start playing Fortnite Battle Royale on your device.

The initial download size of Fortnite from the App Store is 237.4 MB but after installing the app itself, more data needs to be downloaded within the app before you can play. Wait until the download process is complete. Once done, you can now access Fortnite. The game will ask you to either sign in using your existing account or create a new one.

It is important to note that the app is compatible with all iOS devices such as iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch as long as they have iOS version 11.0 and higher. Unfortunately, the game is no longer compatible to devices such as iPhone 5S, 6, 6 Plus; iPad Air, Mini 2, 3; iPod Touch 6th gen and lower. MFi controllers, including the Gamevice and Steelseries Nimbus, are also compatible with the Fortnite Battle Royale version in iOS.

Fortnite iOS version can also run smoothly in 60 FPS but only selected iOS devices can pull it off. Some of the iOS devices that can support 60 FPS gameplay include XS, XS Max, XR, iPad Pro 2018, iPad Pro 2017 10.5, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus. The game is also not compatible with jailbroken devices. Lower versions of iOS can still download the game but with higher chances of experiencing multiple performance issues.
