The Gameplay

Appxplore has released a lot of great mobile games under their name. Some of which include colorful idle games like Masketeers, Thor: War of Tapnarok, and Crab War to name a few. Interestingly, Light a Way follows the same formula but the game will take you to an all-new atmosphere. Light a Way is generally an idle tap game which means that the game can progress with or with lesser interaction from the gamer. The mechanics are generally simple and easily manageable. In fact, the game has a Rated 3+ which makes it suitable even for younger players.

Interestingly, the game welcomes you with a brief introduction featuring a series of comic strips that show how your character ended up in such an amazing journey. Once done, you will be prompted to the 2D battlefield where you must defeat all the evil creatures known as Umbras. To do so, you just have to tap the Umbra until you drained all its darkness. You can see the Darkness bar on top of the screen. Luckily, you are not going to finish this mission alone because you will be accompanied by a large number of magical creatures. They will all help you eliminate enemies that you will encounter along the way.

Incremental Features

Light a Way is an incremental game that works without or with lesser interaction from the gamer. There are two major ways to deal damage to your enemies. First is by tapping the Umbra. This will allow your three companion fairies to attack the enemy using their abilities. The second feature is by letting your companion creatures attack the enemies on your behalf. You cannot access this idle feature until you have reached Stage 5 and meet the Lumi Lantern. The Lumi Lantern is a huge magical creature that can summon tiny beings that are capable of dealing damage to enemies without the gamer’s interaction.

Although this game works even without interaction, the players are still required to perform upgrades and to make these incremental features even more efficient. Located below the game screen are five clickable tabs that allow you to perform upgrades. Tap the Little Girl icon to upgrade her and increase your tap damage. This also allows you to upgrade her so-called Keepers of Light and increase their respective damage attributes. Tap the Lumi Lantern Icon to upgrade each tiny beings (known as Lumis) and increase their DPS. Also upgrading these creatures allows them to learn new skills.

If you have reached a certain level, you can access the Spell Book icon and unlock new skills for your character. These skills have different effects and duration you can take advantage of. Runes, on the other hand, allows you to unlock a new Constellation map while the Staff icon allows you to upgrade your staff and improve its attributes. There are many other interesting features of the game including the Ancient Turtle that can unleash mysterious power that allows you to deal with continuous damage to enemies for a certain duration.

Other Noteworthy Features

Interestingly, Light a Way is more than just a tapper and idle game. There are many other equally engaging features you can explore. The game, for instance, comes with a generous reward system. You automatically earn gems even you are not actively playing the game due to its AFK elements. There is also a Daily Lumi Bottle that grants you with different rewards by simply playing the game daily. If you have collected 30 Lumis, you will receive a giant chest with a bigger reward. Another interesting element is the Glow Harvest feature. Here, you will be asked to collect Glowbeans from the special type of Lumis that will appear in the game from time to time.  The more Glowbeans you collected, the bogger the prize you will earn.

You also receive generous reward everything you defeat the Erebus (it appears every time you eliminated 100 Umbras). Pheonix also randomly appears on stage and tapping it will grant you special abilities for a short period of time. Another interesting feature of Light a Way is the ability to customize your character. You can apply accessories and change her dress as you progress. These costumes can be obtained either through special missions or through the in-game shop. Some can even be earned through rewarded videos. The game is constantly updated and they even have a facemask and medical coat outfits in observance with the world’s current pandemic.

The Verdict

Light of Way, just like most idle games, requires longer engagement to experience and embrace all the progress.  The actions might be repetitive but you will appreciate every progress you make. Appearance-wise, Light of Way is an absolute visual delight. The game takes you to an enchanting atmosphere, a visually stunning environment that can be described as magical yet enigmatic at the same time. It is also complemented with a piece of well-fitting music that matches perfectly with the enchanting theme. It also comes with a compelling plot that makes this mobile game even more engaging.

This game is definitely a perfect time killer. Knowing that it is an incremental game that comes with AFK features, the game still progresses even if you are not actively playing it.
