The Gameplay

The mechanics for this game are generally simple and easily manageable. Like most RPG, the game starts with a character selection. Laurum Online offers four different classes to choose from. These include the Warrior, Paladin, Hunter, and Wizard. Each class will vary in terms of their character attributes, skillsets, and type of weapon they wield. Be mindful that your character can only items that are meant for their class. After selecting your preferred class, the game will prompt you to the game field. You start the game in a village and unlike other Pixel MMORPG, this game comes with depth. There are quests to explore and there are specific goals to complete.

The game comes with a very simple and easy-to-understand interface and controls. You can navigate around the 2D map using the virtual joypad. A circle surrounding your character indicates your covered radius when using skills or picking up items. The tap-based buttons on the bottom right are reserved for your skills with two slots above them that are reserved for HP and MP potions. You will find a small navigational map on the top right along with other buttons for Quest, Pets, Gems, Chat, and Menu. The top left corner features your character’s profile and an access to your inventory. Chat messages can be found on the bottom right. Unlike most MMORPGs where the screen is overpopulated by different buttons, Laurum Online took it in a very simple manner and that’s perfect.

Slow-Paced Adventure

Laurum Online is not a kind of RPG where you can reach Level 100 in just an hour or two. This game requires a lot of dedication and time commitment. Generally, the game comes with a very slow progression when leveling up as the game puts grinding at its forefront. The best way to gain more experience is through completing quests or crafting special items. To accept a quest, simply approach the NPC that is marked with an exclamation point or the one with the term quest on their titles. You can accept as many quests as possible. Most of the quest will ask you to either collect a certain number of loots from monsters or kill a certain number of mobs.

Take note that this game doesn’t support an auto-play system. Therefore, the player must manually navigate the map. You can also craft teleport scrolls but it will only transport you from one town to another. It is also interesting to note that all items are tailored to a specific class. For example, a sword can only be equipped by warriors while bows are exclusive only for hunters. The same thing goes with armors and other equipment. You cannot wear the boots and the gloves that are specifically made for other classes.

Skills, Party and Crafting

The skills are uniquely applied for this game as well. Normally, RPGs allow the characters to learn skills upon reaching certain levels. However, for Laurum Online, you can learn them all instantly as long as you have the book. You can buy the books from the shop but the game also provides you some free starting skill books that you can instantly equip. Every time you earned a new level, you will be given with stat points that you can freely distribute on your chosen attributes. Simply head over to Menu, select the Character, choose the attributes and input the number of stat points you want to share.

Of course, since this is an MMORPG game, Laurum Online will not be completed without its multiplayer functions. The game features a party system. You can tap the nearby players and invite them to a party that can be extremely beneficial especially when raiding dungeons. You can also send them a friend request and vice versa. Crafting is also an interesting addition to this game. Players can craft different useful materials out of different resources that you can obtain from various monsters. You can create Experience potions that allow you to earn extra exp points even without killing monsters or accepting quests.
