The Gameplay

Interestingly, Warspear Online can be played on both mobile and PC platforms. The mechanics are generally simple and easily manageable. If you have experienced playing classic RPG like Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy during their SNES era, then you should know how Warspear Online works. This game puts grinding at the forefront while supported by a simple combat system. Much like a typical RPG, the game starts with character selection. It starts by selecting your preferred faction which includes Chosen, Firstborn, Mountain Clans, and Forsaken. After selecting which side you are on, you will be asked to select your preferred class.

The game offers four different classes which will vary in terms of their skills, abilities, and basic attributes. Players can choose among Paladin, Mage, Priest, and Seeker. You can also customize your own avatar by picking your desired gender, hairstyle and hair color. Once done, the game will now prompt you to Altgard, your starting point. To navigate around the 2D map, simply tap any area and your character will automatically follow. You can interact with NPCs by tapping them and you can attack enemies by doing the same. Above all, the game doesn’t support Auto-play system so expect to play this game in an old-fashion way. Compared to similar games like Rucoy Online or Mystera Legacy, Warspear Online comes with a well-polished and well-crafted gameplay. The game comes with story-based quests. You can obtain multiple quests by interacting with various NPCs.

Those NPCs with Yellow exclamation points indicate available quest. The punctuation will to a faded question mark to indicate that the quest is still in progress. Once completed, this question mark will turn yellow. Players can take advantage of the small navigational map and use it to guide them in their quest. To track the quest and to complete it much faster, you can tap the Menu icon on the lower right corner, go to Quest, select the quest you like to track and locate it on the map. The map will then show you where to go. In the entire course of the game, the player will be asked to accept quests, navigate the world, defeat monsters, crawl dungeons, communicate with other players and level up until you become the most powerful hero of them all.

Skill-based Combat, PvP elements, and Multiplayer Functions

As you wander around the map, you will encounter an overwhelming number of aggressive and hostile monsters. You will also engage yourself in a series of an epic battles against powerful creatures as part of your quests. Interestingly, the combat system applied for Warspear Online is skill-based. The outcome of the battles is determined based on how you manage your skills and how timely you execute them. Located below the game screen is the list of skills available for your character. Some skills are ideal for offenses while others are meant to strengthen your defense. There are also skills that you can use for healing.

When the character reaches a certain level, you will receive skill development points. You can use these skill points to upgrade your skills or learn a new one. Upon reaching Level 18, you will soon access Expert Skills that make your character even more efficient in every battle. As far as the multiplayer elements are concerned, the game comes with an exciting PvP campaign which you can access via Arena. There is a PvP zone that offers 2×2, 3×3, 5×5, and Temple of Seals 3×3 battle modes. Each mode requires a certain number of tickets and you can access the arena upon reaching Level 4. Warspear Online also offers a Party system which allows you to befriend other players and let them accompany you in your journey. You can add them to your friend list or let them be part of your guild. This kind of alliance system can be extremely beneficial especially when raiding dungeons or participating in Guild tournament.

Warspear Online has so many amazing features to explore which only proves that an excellent MMORPG doesn’t always need visually striking graphics to make it engaging. Appearance-wise, this game is still a visual delight. It treats you with nostalgic retro-inspired pixel art graphics that can instantly remind you of those SNES RPGs.The game managed to capture all the classic elements while successfully incorporating modern and multiplayer elements on it. The game, however, offers very slow progress which can be a downside to many. It takes so much time to earn a new level and it takes almost forever just to earn a good amount of money that you need for buying gear. The trading system is also an excellent addition in this RPG but it somehow turns the game to a Pay-to-win RPG.
